Since the pulling of NetShare, one of the major complaints over the iPhone 3G has been a lack of official tethering support (using the iPhone as a modem for a laptop).

AT&T currently supports the tethering of other phones, such as the Blackberry, for a monthly fee. At the Web 2.0 Summit on November 6, AT&T chief executive Ralph De La Vega made it known to the public that tethering option is coming soon (with no specific dates)

PREDICTION: Will official tethering support for the iPhone be made available by the end of the keynote speech at Macworld 2009?  Let the community decide.  Place your bets below!

Who cares. Jailbreak it and install PDAnet to tether. Or pay ATT $30/month for 12 months each contract. Knock your socks off.

Too bad I cashed out on this prediction. Seems like it will be announced today at MacWorld.
